If you use a clothes dryer, one of the easiest ways to save energy is to clean the lint filter before each load.
A clogged lint trap prevents air from moving sufficiently through the clothes, which results in longer drying times. In extreme cases, dryer lint build-up can actually be a fire hazard.
According to Energy Star, keeping the lint trap clean may provide energy savings of up to $34 in energy costs each year.
By cleaning the lint filter before each load, the 61 million dryers in U.S. homes could be saving a total of $2 billion per year on utility bills.
