Storage water heater
This is the conventional water heater most of us know well. A ready supply of heated water is kept in a tank for use whenever the tap is turned on. Its fuel source can be electricity, natural gas, oil, or propane. The downside of this type of water heater is standby heat loss: Since the water in the tank is kept constantly heated, even when it isn't being used, energy is wasted. A storage water heater is typically less expensive to buy, but will likely have higher annual operating costs than alternatives such as solar, tankless, or heat-pump water heaters. |
