Kid-Tested, Parent-Approved

Supporting Mother Earth with one hand while tending to two young daughters with the other is full-time work for Will and Laura Wear. After pondering the scarcity of attractive yet environmentally safe children's decor, this couple decided to merge their respective design and business backgrounds and launch their own line of affordable furniture and accessories, aptly dubbed Nest. Self-proclaimed environmentalists, the Wears have managed to produce a fun collection of kid- and planet-friendly items, each crafted with care according to the highest standards of sustainability.

Playroom staples such as the Jax Toy Box and Toy Cube, for example, are made primarily with organic cotton, minimizing the use of excess (and wasteful) hardwood. The inner tube-like Nest Seat, stuffed with foam scraps, provides a comfy place to curl up, while the bent-plywood Peanut Step Stool gives your little ones an extra boost.

Whether you're preparing a room for your new baby, packing for a trip to Grandma's, or helping your kids get organized, Nest has just the solution for you. All of the line's organic cotton fabrics are tinted with low-impact dyes, and woods are finished with playfully colored water-based coatings. Bent plywood is used whenever possible as a hardwood alternative, and all products are manufactured in India in compliance with fair-trade labor practices. Pick up a few items online (we recommend the egg-shaped drawer pulls, of course), and be on the lookout for Nest's soon-to-launch line of locally made hardwood toys.
