Don't Just Recycle - Rebicycle |
|
Bike chains, sprockets, and rims might not sound like the most desirable choices for home decor, but after the folks at Resource Revival work their magic on these cycle parts, you just might rethink your design strategy. Since 1994, founder Graham Bergh and his team of artists have been collecting thousands of pounds of cast-off bicycle parts each year from bike shops nationwide. After being cleaned and categorized, the parts are transformed into nifty accents such as desk and wall clocks, bottle openers, catchall bowls, and CD racks. Each ornament is made in a renovated Oregon workshop from recycled materials, and can be custom-engraved with any message or logo-just the thing for gift-giving season. Check out the Resource Revival website if you're a shop owner interested in becoming a contributing "rebicycler," or if you'd like to locate the nearest bike shop that's donating to the cause.
