Telecommute Once a Week

If your job allows it and your boss approves, consider working from home one day a week. The average commuter who drives to work will save $330 per year in fuel costs-not to mention the savings from less-frequent vehicle maintenance-by working from home once a week.

Let's say you and 10 percent of all other commuters who drive alone to work begin to work from home just one day a week. The resulting collective fuel savings would total more than one billion gallons per year-enough to meet eight-and-a-half days worth of fuel needs for all West Coast states.
