Replace Car Air Filters

If you own a car, check and replace the air filter regularly. A clogged air filter chokes off the air needed to burn fuel efficiently, which wastes gas and causes the engine to lose power. Replacing a clogged filter can improve your gas mileage by as much as 10 percent, offering you a savings of up to $150 per year or more in gasoline expenses.

A recent highway survey showed that 24 percent of all registered vehicles are driving around with clogged filters, collectively wasting more than 235 million gallons of gasoline per week. If these filters were replaced and this weekly fuel waste was conserved, the weekly savings would be equivalent to taking more than 400,000 vehicles off the road for an entire year.
