Give Your Dryer a Rest

Machine-drying clothing accounts for up to 6 percent of your home energy usage, and in hot weather it can create unwanted heat and humidity indoors. Try line-drying or laying your clothes flat to dry instead.

If every household in America with a clothes dryer dried its clothes the natural way, we would save about 66 billion kilowatt-hours of energy nationwide.

This would be enough energy to power the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor (at its current energy consumption rate) for two centuries!
