Cover up that Pool

If you have an outdoor heated pool, use a pool cover. It will not only reduce the amount of water lost to evaporation but will lower heating bills and save on chemical usage.

By covering your pool when it's not in use you could see energy savings of up to $75-$200 per month, depending on your climate and pool size.

If every heated backyard pool in the U.S. was covered when not in use, the total energy savings during the summer would be roughly 3.3 billion kilowattt hours (kWh) per month-more energy than is generated by the Hoover Dam in an entire year.
