Ever see a lush, green lawn and garden in a desert region and feel as if it didn't happen naturally? That's because not all plants are meant to grow in all regions. This term is the patented name for an approach to landscaping that involves using drought-resistant or tolerant, generally native, plants in dry areas to reduce the need for watering. It's a landscape that works with the climate, rather than against it. A golf resort in Scottsdale? An escape, but not a Xeriscape.
