It's in rubber gloves, elastic bands, and even birthday-party balloons. This natural resin, which comes from the sap of rubber trees, is renewable and biodegradable. It is useful for many household applications-as a binder in paints, in carpet backings, and foam mattresses, for example. Many of these products have eco-friendly creds. Some people are allergic to natural latex, and should avoid contact with it.
