Hazardous chemical |
 |
Warning-these are chemicals that should be used, and disposed of, with the utmost care. Any chemical in solid, liquid, or gas form is considered hazardous if it is capable of causing physical injury (as through an explosion or fire) or illness. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) designates chemicals as hazardous in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. On product labeling, the words "danger," "warning," and "caution" will let you know how severe a particular hazard is (danger being the most severe), and images are often used to illustrate its nature (skull and crossbones for poison, for example). |
