Graywater

That water swirling down the drain doesn't have to go to waste. Well, not all of it. Graywater is the not-too-dirty household wastewater-typically from bathroom sinks, showers, and clothes washers-that is considered safe for reuse, particularly in irrigation and gardening. It does not contain toilet or food waste (toilet water is called, descriptively, blackwater). Installing a graywater plumbing and filtering system can save energy, conserve clean water, and can even help makes plants grow better, thanks to the bits of nutrients that wash out with it.
