Geothermal heat pump

Looking for an efficient heat source? A geothermal heat pump could be the solution. This appliance draws natural heat from the ground or from a body of water, and then forces it into a building. It's sometimes called a ground-source or water-source heat pump. As with all heat pumps, these units are typically powered by electricity, and eliminate the need for a furnace. They also function as air conditioners during the cooling season by pulling heat out of a space. Some types provide water heating, too. Because they utilize a natural, more stable source of warmth, geothermal pumps use considerably less energy than standard (air-source) pumps, and can even be effective in colder climates.
