EnergyGuide label

If you're appliance shopping, you can't miss it: This bright yellow label, created by the Federal Trade Commission, is required by law to appear on many new household appliances. Unlike the Energy Star label, it is not in itself an endorsement or indication of higher efficiency-it is provided for information purposes only. It tells you what you need to know about the unit's energy consumption as compared to similar products, and its approximate yearly operating cost. Look for it on refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, washing machines, room air conditioners, central air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, and boilers.
