Energy Star

In the vast universe of appliances and home improvement products, these are the stars to look for. Energy Star offers a quick and easy way to know you're making a good choice for the environment, whether you're picking out a new dishwasher or new windows for your house. The Energy Star program, sponsored jointly by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), promotes energy-efficient products and practices. Products that meet the required standards often bear the Energy Star label-a blue star icon that may be familiar by now. Purchasing those products, or incorporating Energy Star-approved building practices into a project, can mean more than saving energy-rebates are often available, and even federal tax credits. Visit Energy Star to learn more.
