Biodiversity

This is the great variety of life, in all its forms. The term refers to diversity in a range of categories, including genetic diversity within a species, species diversity in a particular area, and community and ecosystem diversity within a particular region. All of these factors are interdependent, and a loss of diversity-due to land clearing and destruction of habitats, for example-can have a widespread negative impact on the environment and living things.
